Something in the Desert

Reflecting on significant moments in your life, you might recall them differently from how they occurred. It's natural for humans to tweak memories in a manner that diverges from reality. Each time we recollect an experience, we subtly adjust that memory.

In my collection titled "Something Happened in the Desert," I delve into the tale of a young woman embarking on a desert journey. Along her path to her destination, a mysterious and supernatural event occurs during the night. She can't remember what happened but as time goes on her mind changes what actually what she thinks happened that night. This collection delves into how the mind has the power to manipulate memories, whether positively or negatively.

The collection takes inspiration from '60s Fashion designs from Pierre Cardin to Balenciaga. Another key source of inspiration was the American Southwest, not only looking at literal desert images as a source but also the relationship between isolation and the desert. Using these designs as inspiration, I wanted to play with abnormal shapes and unearthly silhouettes, with a unique color scheme to match.
